Production of phosgene derivates
On June 1st, 2007 EU directive 1907/2006 for the Registration, Evauation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) came into effect. With it a new course for the risk assessment of chemicals and the communication of dangers and risks in the supply chain is set.
For producers and importers of chemical substances new functions and duties arise with the introduction of REACH. Particularly, the attestation of the risk-free product application becomes the producers' and importers' responsibility.
The centerpiece of REACH is the registration of imported and manufactured substances of quantities ≥1mt/a - barring few exceptions. Depending on the application and the utilized amount the registration encompasses the collection and generation of physical, toxicological and ecotoxicological data and the submission of a comprehensive registration dossier. Only products which have succesfully passed this procedure may continue to be produced inside or imported into the EU.
Prior to the final registration in 2010 to 2018 a pre-registration was conducted from mid-to-end 2008. The pre-registration served as a preliminary determination of all currently manufactured and imported substances - the so-called Phase-In Substances - and allowed for the use of transition periods until the final registration by no later than 2018.
Jobachem has participated in this process and has successfully pre-registered all of its traded Phase-In Products.
Currently, we are actively participating in the data generation and collection in multiple Substance Information Exchange Forums (SIEFs). For our products Benzophenone and TBU we assumed the role of the Lead Registrant.
Our product portfolio thus remains unchanged under REACH.
